Nuno

Mendes

Born and raised in Lisbon, Nuno Mendes has dedicated his life to exploring the world of hospitality and the rich cultural tapestry of Portuguese cuisine. He combines his first-hand experience from his family’s farm in the Alentejo back in Portugal with unique ingredients and innovative techniques garnered during his travels to push the boundaries and creative immersive experiences for diners through his restaurants and various projects, both in London and Lisbon.

From first opening Bacchus in Hoxton in 2006, through to his Loft Project supper clubs, Viajante in London’s Town Hall, Chiltern Firehouse in 2014, Taberna do Mercado in Spitalfields in 2015, Mãos in 2018 and the Bairro Alto Hotel in 2019, Nuno has firmly made his mark on both London and Libson’s food scenes. Most recently in March 2022, Nuno opened his latest restaurant project Lisboeta, a love letter to Lisbon, on  London’s Charlotte Street.

Alongside his many hospitality endeavours, Nuno is also co-founder of Fuel for Learning, an East London based business working to bring nutritious and balanced food, as well as improving dining cultures in schools.
