Sami is one of the original members of the Ottolenghi family, founding the popular restaurant group alongside Yotam back in 2002. Together they have been celebrating the powerful flavours and rich food stories of the Middle East through their delis and cookbooks, and the pair have played a hugely significant role in making the Middle Eastern ingredients we know and love so much now so popular in the Western world.
Sami co-authored the much-loved cookbook Jerusalem alongside Yotam, as well as Ottolenghi the cookbook. In 2020, he published his own homage to his homeland, Palestine, in the cookbook Falastin, co-authored by Tara Wigley. It’s a beautiful celebration of the wonderful dishes, ingredients and stories of the land he grew up in, and the recipes themselves will make you fall in love with Palestinian cuisine.
